Brenda Carol Phelps Kophamer, 74, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away in her home after a battle with cancer. Brenda was born in Arlington, Virginia, to Harold and Ella Frances Phelps and grew up in Middleburg, Virginia, with her siblings Joe, Mike, Susan, Cindy, and Mary Ellen. She went on to attend Mary Baldwin College. In 1974, Brenda married Scott Kophamer, a Navy fighter pilot. They traveled the world and had two children, Kelly and David. Later in life she became a critical care nurse serving at Baptist Hospital. After retiring, she helped raise her grandchildren.
