CONCERT ON THE GREEN COMPETITION: the application deadline to participate in the Young Artists Music Competition is April 5. Students from grades 6 through 12 who reside in Clay County are eligible to compete for a $1,000 scholarship. For more information and to apply online, go to concertonthegreen.com.

HOME TWEET HOME BIRDHOUSE CHALLENGE: April 6 at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Gum St., Green Cove Springs. Birdhouses need to be dropped off by noon with judging for three categories – children 10 and younger, Children 11-16 and adults. Silent auction of the birdhouses and a fish fry follow. PERSECUTED CHURCH CONFERENCE: April 6 from 9 a.m.-2p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 3717 SE State Road 21, Keystone Heights. Featured speakers: Bob Fu, founder and president of China Aid. CLAY STATE OF HEALTH: April 11 at Thrasher-Horne Center, 283 College Dr., Orange Park, from 110:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Florida Department of Health in Clay County will give preliminary results of the county’s overall health to prioritize the top issues.

JUST US GIRLS LUNCHEON: Is April 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and Suites, 620 Wells Rd., Orange Park. Annabelle from Annabelle’s Interiors will teach defense, and Joyce Hall, owner of the Hall Closet, will be the inspirational speaker.

LAKE REGION KIWANIS EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE: Is April 21 at Keystone Beach. Dr. Tom Farmer from Keystone United Methodist Church will be the guest pastor.

DINING OUT FOR LIFE: On April 25 will be NFAN's 14th annual DINING OUT FOR LIFE® in Jacksonville. Diners check the websites www.diningoutforlife.com or www.nfanjax.org for the list of participating restaurants and go dine out with friends, family, or co-workers. For that one day, 25 percent or more of your check will be donated by the restaurant to help support NFAN's services to HIV/AIDS clients and their families. KOI POND TOUR: Two local koi ponds will be featured in a daylong tour of eight on April 27 to display the variations between water feature, water gardens or koi ponds. Ponds listed on the tour include: 3136 Longleaf Ranch Cr., Middleburg and 2730 Brookwood Rd., Orange Park.

EMPTY BOWLS EVENT: for Clay County Women’s Auxiliary is April 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Orange Park United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 2051 Park Ave. The event will feature lunch served in ceramic bowls created by local students. Visitors will be allowed to keep their bowls. Cost is $20 a ticket, with all procedes benefitiing the Clay County Salvation Army Food Pantry. A silent auction and bake sale are part of the program.

Kids get to interact with response vehicles, heavy equipment and other unique vehicles and a hazard preparedness event for families and children. The first two hours of the event will be horn and noise free to accommodate children and/or adults with special needs.
