CCSO Explorer Post earn several state awards

CLAY COUNTY – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 987 recently competed in a Florida Sheriff’s Explorers Association Summer State Delegates Competition. The Clay team consisted of Explorer Lt. E. Simmons, Explorer B. Aslan, Explorer Sgt. C. Wilcox, Explorer Sgt. C. Wilcox, Explorer L. Brownlow, Explorer Sgt. J. Chellette, Explorer C. Coffey, Asst. Advisor Detective M. Brown, Senior Advisor Deputy E. Solis, Explorer H. Coffey and Explorer Lt. M. Wilcox. The team competed in several scenarios against other counties including shooting, unknown risk traffic stops, force on force, high-risk traffic stops, active shooter, domestic violence, burglary in progress, unknown trouble, crisis intervention, crime scene and officer down. The CCSO Explorers spent more than 500 hours training in 2022 and their hard work paid off. They won first place in an officer down, first place in crisis intervention, third place in high-risk traffic stop and Explorer Harvey Coffey won third place in the centerfire shooting division. Explorer Sgt. Christopher Wilcox was named the vice president over the northern region and their law enforcement advisor, Deputy Solis was named the 2022 northern region advisor of the year!
