KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Clay High senior wide receiver and defensive back Mi'Keise Battle emerged as a bonafide playmaker for the Blue Devils in a showcase performance when Clay visited Keystone Heights on Thursday as part of a multi-team 7-on-7 scrimmage festival.

Battle was playing a step faster with numerous catches and a wide open touchdown grab from quarterback Brody Moses against the Indians.

At quarterbacking for Clay, with probable starter Landon Martin at a football camp with a few other Blue Devil starters, Clay coach Jeff Gierke got to see his three backups - Wyatt Rapoza, Moses and Luke Orladny - all taking shots at the secondaries from Keystone Heights, Interlachen, Fort White and Providence.

In the final Keystone Heights vs. Clay 7-on-7, Orladny got a scoring strike to Battle, while Keystone Heights quarterback Cole Crabtree had numerous connections with sophomore wide out Connor Mooneyham, as first year coach Cameron Porch had consistent successful downfield plays.

On the heavier side, Keystone Heights defeated Clay in a rivalry matchup of the big boys on the offensive lines: weightlifting, 10-pound medicine ball throws and agility and relay races.

Good looking plays were all coming from a fast, athletic Fort White team, with Providence having All-Pro NFL safety Donovin Darius, the former Jacksonville Jaguars, coaching secondary for Providence.

Interlachen, under coach Erik Gibson of Middleburg, also showed some field success. Gibson led the Rams to the Sunshine State Athletic Association's Atlantic League state championship in 2022.
