Two Clay County football athletes are getting big reps at their respective colleges as former Fleming Island High offensive lineman Braden Cunningham and former Clay defensive lineman Omar Goosby are turning their games up a notch in 2026.

Cunningham, now a junior at Florida Atlantic University in South Florida, has been the starting center for the Owls, who are now 1-1 with a 66-21 loss to University of Florida and a 38-30 win against Navy.

Cunningham earned the starting role in 2026 after playing in two games last season against FAMU and East Carolina.

Goosby, a sophomore at Webber International University in Babson Park, returned after being one of the leading tacklers last year. Goosby was a second team All Sun Conference selection with 50 tackles - five for losses and with two sacks.

Goosby had 11 tackles in the first three games with 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He's also forced a fumble.

Webber is currently 1-2 with a season opening win against University of Fort Lauderdale followed by losses to Stetson and Campbellsville (Kent.) University.

Quinton Moore, a sophomore wide receiver (three games, eight rushes 54 yards with a long of 20) and Jayden Blanton, freshman defensive lineman (two games, two tackles), both from Orange Park; freshman kicker Tyler Sapp from Keystone Heights/Bradford (three games with 12 punts and a 33.17-yard average, 1-1 with a 38-yard field goal; five kickoffs with a 45-yard; freshman wide receiver Jordan Williams, Dominic and Darius Swilley, freshman defensive lineman and sophomore offensive lineman Jakeyvious Carter, all from Middleburg, and freshman defensive back Jack Rivera, sophomore offensive lineman Jeremiah Hamilton and freshman quarterback  Gabe Taylor, all from Orange Park, are on the Webber roster.

Webber will host Bethel on Sept. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Webber finished 5-6 last year. Moore had a 92-yard scoring run in the first game in 2025 against Thomas University.
