ARGYLE FOREST – An Argyle Elementary third grader was arrested Friday after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said staff discovered he had an electric stun gun on school grounds.
Another student reported that the boy possibly had the weapon. CCSO conducted a criminal investigation, which included interviewing the reporting student and school staff.
The electric stun gun was seized as evidence, and a school threat assessment was conducted. There were no students harmed because of this incident.
He was arrested for “possessing or discharging weapons or firearms at a school-sponsored event or on school property is prohibited (a third-degree felony).
• A person shall not possess any firearm, electric weapon or device, destructive device, or other weapon as defined in statute 790.001, including a razor blade or box cutter, except as authorized in support of school-sanctioned activities, at a school-sponsored event or on the property of any school, school bus, or school bus stop” and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice – Duval Detention Center.
Since he is a minor, his identity was not revealed.
