GREEN COVE SPRINGS — Various plans for the future Oakleaf Library were heard at Tuesday’s Board of County Commissioners meeting.
Board members listened to the presentations of its top five architectural firm choices, one of which will soon take on the professional services of the project.
The future library is set to be constructed near Oakleaf Village Elementary at the end of Plantation Oaks Boulevard.
The board heard from Walker Architects, Inc., Borrelli + Partners, Inc., Fleischman and Garcia & Planners, AIA, PA, Akel Logan Shafer, PA and Harvard Jolly, Inc.
Four out of the five commissioners scored Fleischman and Garcia as their top firm pick.
Fleischman and Garcia is an award-winning local firm with 53 years of design experience. The team presented an overall outlook on their vision for the project, including technology integration and flexibility.
They also pointed to two similar projects they have worked on — the Wesley Chapel Public Library (in-progress) and the Riverview Public Library — which have project costs of $5.5 million and $8.5 million, respectively.
At a later date, the county will discuss negotiations with the top two firms, and a selection will be brought back to the board for approval.
