County Road 220 bridgework completed, finally open to public
MIDDLEBURG – The wait is over.
The County Road 220 bridge replacement and four-lane widening project is now complete and open to traffic, without any workplace accidents, and two weeks ahead of schedule.
Phase 1 work began in December 2024 and included intersection improvements at Rideout Ferry Road. Phase 2 work began in January 2025 and included the construction of a new four-lane bridge over Little Black Creek to replace the old bridge, which was built in 1947.
Traffic started flowing at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. It’s expected to relieve some of the heavy traffic on Blanding Boulevard, which has been used as a detour for the past 22 months.
These improvements reopened the connection between Knight Boxx and Henley roads. It will support better traffic flow and enhance connectivity along the corridor.
