Denise Pinho Holmes, 87, passed away on August 17, 2025 in Green Grove Springs, FL. She was born on September 24, 1937 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to the late Humberto Soares de Pinho and Amandina Garcia Guimarães.
Denise graduated from Forest Hills High School in New York and completed some college. She owned and operated a licensed daycare center in Orange Park, FL, Denise’s Daycare. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Orange Park, and also a member of the Clay County Gators Club. She enjoyed Florida Gators, Las Vegas Raiders and (CBF) Brazilian Soccer Team and Fluminense (local champions in Brazil).
Denise was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Jose Teixeira Guimarães and Maria Alexandrina Garcia Guimarães.
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Frank Roland Holmes; daughter, Carla Lerose Holmes; granddaughter, Brianna Janine Holmes-Fields; great-grandson, River Roland Velez; sister, Lucia Pinho Hopper; niece, Daniela Marie Costa; cousins, Bianca Amandina Babor, Anthony Daniel Costa and Nancy and a host of other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025. From 2:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.
