Some people quietly wonder if choosing Jesus means choosing a less exciting life. Maybe you’ve felt it too: the pressure to blend in, to chase every opportunity and to experience everything the world has to offer. And when you say no to something everyone else is doing, that little whisper creeps in: Am I missing out?
But here’s what Jesus says in John 10:10: “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” That’s not a dull or half-hearted life. That’s a deep, abundant, joy-filled life that doesn’t expire when the weekend ends.
The fear of missing out (FOMO) thrives when we believe the best moments are happening somewhere else. But the truth is, when you walk with Jesus, you don’t miss out; you gain what truly matters. Peace that lasts. Purpose that satisfies. Love that doesn’t leave. The world may offer temporary highs, but God offers eternal joy.
Following Jesus means walking in freedom. You’re not shackled to trends or chasing validation from people who don’t even know the real you. You’re anchored, you know who you are and you know Who you belong to.
Yes, there are things you’ll walk away from. There are moments when you’ll feel different. But different isn’t bad; it’s often the sign that you're being set apart for something better. When you learn to find your identity in Christ, that fear of missing out gets replaced with the joy of missing nothing that was meant for you.
So, is the Christian life boring? Not when you're walking in your God-given calling. Not when you’re loving boldly, serving generously and living fully awake.
This life with Jesus is the real adventure.
