FIHS Jenkins chosen to USA Flag team

FLEMING ISLAND - Fleming Island High graduate and multisport athlete London Jenkins has been selected as one of 12 flag football athletes as part of an 18 athlete pool selected from a pool of 60 athletes from around the United States; 18 states, to be a part of the USA Flag Football National Team after a three-day trials workout and evaluation held at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on March 20-23.
Both the mens and womens USA teams were world champions with wins in Lahti, France last year.
Jenkins, 18, was a key part of the Fleming Island High flag football team the 2024 team that finished 15-1 and as region semifinalist; losing to Fletcher 33-12 in the season's lone loss.
Jenkins, also a star point guard on the Fleming Island girls basketball team, caught 32 passes with seven touchdowns, rushed for 780 yards with 22 touchdowns and even threw for 105 yards with five touchdowns in her senior season.
On defense, Jenkins had 14 interceptions with 265 yards after the catch.
In her junior season, Fleming Island finished 16-1 with their lone loss in the Class 2A championship game; a 33-0 loss to Tampa Alonso.
Jenkins played and won a junior college national title while at Florida Gateway College in Lake City last year.
In Charlotte, the USA Trials program featured athletic testing, on-field drills, 1-on-1 and 5-on-5 work for the roster spots.
Of the 60 mens and 60 womens selectees, 18 were to be selected to be on the final 12-athlete roster of the official USA National teams. The final team will compete in international friendlies and the International Federation of American Football’s (IFAF) Americas Continental Championship later this year. The U.S. Women’s National Team will also compete in The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.
