FLEMING ISLAND - In yet another clash of Clay County rivals, Fleming Island High's boys and girls swim teams will venture to Rolling Hills to take on Clay High swimming on Thursday, September 4 in a return to the splash duel that has been absent beyond relay events in quite a few years.
Two key swimmers on both teams, William Shoesmith for Fleming Island, and Noah Stotler for Clay, both swam spectacular summers at the 2025 USA Junior Nationals in California as part of the Bolles Sharks Club team, and both returned home with improved times individually in their events plus a plethora of top times in relays.
For Stotler, 15, a third best in his age group in the 200 meter freestyle in 1:55.00 highlighted his California trip with a butterfly leg in the 200 medley relay team that was fastest 15-16s and broke the Florida state record.
Stotler also swam a 26.41 in the 50 fly, 2:05.27 for the 200 fly and 52.30 for the 100 free.
In relays, Stotler was in 200 free relay, 800 free relay 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
Shoesmith, 16, was in the 1500 free in 15:51.65; 400 individual medley in 4:37.93, 400 free in 4:00.23, 800 free in 8:17.71 and the 200 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.
Both swimmers were on relays for Bolles; 800 free relay A team (10th in final); 400 free relay A team (fourth in final); 400 medley relay B team; 200 medley relay B team;
