CLAY HILL – Ninety-two residents were served on Feb. 15 when the Clay Impact Train made a stop at Clay Hill Elementary.
With the help of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and a growing reputation for providing much-needed information and services, attendance at last Saturday’s stop swelled to 140.
“Prior to our event, sheriff’s deputies assisted in spreading the word with families they met and placing flyers throughout the area. Today, we were able to meet a vast array of needs,” Clay Impact posted on its social media sites.
The monthly event also included nearly 80 volunteers. The Train offered free medical assistance, haircuts, groceries, clothing, bike helmets and library books. Attendees were also able to get advice from the Clay County Fire Rescue’s Paramedicine program, including information on CCSO's Hammer and Hope program, and mental health counseling.
The Train will return to Clay Hill on Oct. 18. Next month, the Impact Clay Train will stop at Grove Park Elementary on July 19. It will also be at Grove Park on Nov. 15. Other areas that will be served are Green Cove Springs Junior High on Aug. 16 and Dec. 20, and Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High on Sept. 20.
