ORANGE PARK – A 42-year-old man was arrested after the Clay County Sheriff's Office accused him of impregnating a 13-year-old girl in 2016.

Albert Boateng, of St. Johns, was transported from the Duval County Jail on March 13 and charged with sexual assault on a victim younger than 16 and cruelty toward a child by impregnating a child younger than 18. Judge Steven B. Whittington ordered him held without bond.

According to the affidavit for an arrest warrant, the victim was 13 when she delivered a baby on May 5, 2017. At the time, it was described as a child-on-child sex act, but CCSO described the case as “unfounded.”

The case was reopened on Sept. 20, 2024, and information from the victim, her sister and her mother gave CCSO enough probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant.

Boateng’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 8.
