KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Keystone Heights volleyball has progressed to a 14-8 overall record with a few record setting performances along the way with setter Kaleigh Marquart achieving her 1,000th career assist and hitter Mia Rivera staying atop the Class 3A hits list.

Marquart, with 980 assists prior to the Lady Indians' games against Newberry, got her 23rd scoring pass in the third game of an unfortunate 3-9 loss in the Keystone Heights gym. Marquart finished with 28 assists against Newberry with 32 against Union County and 22 against Orange Park.

Marquart's best nights were her back-to-back 36 assists in wins over Baker County and Palatka in early September. Keystone Heights rebounded with a 3-1 win over Palatka two days later with Hawthorne, Interlachen and Clay left to finish the regular season.

For the season, Marquart has 557 assists with an average of 7.5 assists per set with 74 sets played.

One player who is taking advantage of Marquart's accuracy is junior hitter Mia Rivera who has an astounding 289 Kills thus far with senior Kadence Massey coming on strong recently with 144 total.

Rivera is ranked number one in Class 3A and in district 5-3A with kills and is No. 18 in all of Florida.

Rivera's main rival, Sophia Puleo of 3A champion Calvary Christian out of Clearwater, has missed some games due to injury but returned after five games of limited play time to score 23 kills in a 3-2 win over Tampa Prep on Oct. 2. This brings her total to 256.

Luisa Queiroz of St. Andrews of Boca Raton has 274 kills in the chase for the top spot.

Rivera has kept double digits in the last four games with 19 kills against Clay, 14 against Orange Park, 18 against Union County and 11 against Newberry.
Massey has been increasing her presence at the net with 10 in Keystone Heights' loss to Newberry and seven against Union County. Massey has a string of eight kills in three games in September.

On the defensive front, senior Mackenzie Castelvecchi is top blocker with 36 stuffs with Bralee-Kate Chester with 30 blocks.
