FLEMING ISLAND – After a successful career as a surgical assistant, Michelle Smith decided to branch out on a more holistic and natural approach to wellness.
Glow Wellness and Rejuvenation was created to help patients “feel confident, healthy and glowing from the inside out,” the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner said.
Located in Suite 101 at the Salon Lofts, 4465 U.S. Highway 17, Smith and her team – RNs Nina Montgomery and Rachel Mathews and LE Michelle Wells – offer a variety of services designed for both the body and mind.
“So, I do weight loss, IVs, vitamin injections – wellness things,” Smith said. “I also do some aesthetics, like Botox fillers and microneedling.”
Glow also provides facials, anti-aging treatment, waxing, skincare consulting, personalized wellness plans, retinol peels, Korean last lifts and tints, vitamin B12, D, NAD+. Tri-immune boost MIC Lipo B, Glutathione, peptide sticks and GHK CU peptide injections.
Microneedling is an all-natural treatment that involves a pen with 12 tiny needles that glides across your face and creates tiny micro injuries that cause the body’s immune system to attack that area and rebuild new collagen and elastin.
“[Microneedling] has been around for a long time,” Smith said, “But it’s all natural. It’s a great regenerative-type treatment, which I really like – especially the all-natural side. I do a little bit of Botox and filler, but I don't do anything too invasive. I mostly do wellness and all-natural stuff.”
The wellness side, which includes weight loss plans, also allows Smith to accept sick visit telehealth calls, she said.
On weight loss, she said she reviews a patient’s medical history, medications and blood work. Then she works with the patient to create a plan that includes monthly checkups.
Smith said she’s been interested in wellness and aesthetics for years. She gave injections as an orthopedic surgeon, but her new approach “is a little bit different.”
Her belief in treating the mind and body was stronger than any business doubt.
“It definitely was a big step,” she said. “I've never owned a business before. I didn't really know how to do anything. I had to do a lot of research, and I had a couple of friends that I could ask questions who have done similar things. But it’s been good.”
