MIDDLEBURG – Middleburg Trail Life Troop 1595 announced it has chosen to support Wreaths Across America participating location Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Memorial Park as part of the national organization’s Group Sponsorship Program. This is the third year that Troop 1595 will participate in the national program whose mission is to remember the fallen, honor those who served and teach the next generation the value of freedom.

The goal for the troop is to support efforts that help unify our community and celebrate our freedom by thanking the 806 veterans laid to rest at Hardage-Giddens-Holly Hill Memorial Park with the placement of a live, balsam veteran’s wreath on Dec. 16. Other ceremonies will be observed at the Keystone Heights Cemetery and Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park.

Troop participates with Wreaths Across America because it is such an important event to help the youth of our community remember and honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Even the smallest of children feel the occasion’s solemnity and pay attention as the ceremony takes place each year on wreath laying day. Families from the troop often attend and participate together. it is truly a highlight of the year.

“We are forever grateful to all the volunteers and groups who dedicate their time, energy and resources nationwide to fulfilling this yearlong mission,” said Karen Worcester, Executive Director of Wreaths Across America. “These individuals and their communities know the value of remembering the fallen, honoring those who currently serve and teaching the next generation about the sacrifices made for our freedom every day, and with their continued support, Wreaths Across America continues to grow.”
