ORANGE PARK — Get ready to hear the "soul-stirring" voices of the Orange Park Chorale during their latest set of concerts this Spring.
The group will be hosting three vocal concerts dedicated to offering listeners a songful journey of reflection through reverence, introspection and joy.
The chorale will be showcasing various sacred and secular choral works, specifically requested by the members. The sacred selections will include Albert Hay Malotte’s 1935 setting of "The Lord’s Prayer," Randall Thompson’s reading of "The Lord is My Shepherd." "Zion’s Walls," "Wayfaring Stranger" and "Little David, Play on Your Harp."
The secular songs will add a cinematic touch and include ‘"What Was I Made For?’ from the movie Barbie, ‘Look for the Light’ from the television series Only Murders in the Building and "A Million Dreams" and "This is Me" both from the film The Greatest Showman.
The group has been working on the show for about 10 weeks. Artistic Director David Holladay said the community can expect not only great singing, but a chance to reflect on who they are.
“When you really examine the text themselves, all the composers are reflecting on something,” he said. “That’s why we came up with the title ‘Reflections.’”
The first concert will be March 29 at Penney Memorial Church, the second on March 30 at Orange Park Presbyterian Church and the third on April 6 at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. All will begin at 4 p.m.
Concert attendance is free, but donations will be accepted.
