ORANGE PARK— The town finalized upcoming interviews for the Town Manager position at Tuesday’s council meeting.
The council was presented with a list of semifinalists for the position, vetted by Colin Baenziger and Associates consulting firm. A total of 44 applicants applied for the position.
Seven candidates will be interviewed: Linda Connors, current town manager of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea; James Poag, the current civic engagement director for Miami Gardens; Joseph Taylor, the current city administrator for Center Point, Iowa; Dwayne Flowers, the current city administrator for Wadley, Georgia; and Michael McGlothlin, most recently the town administrator for Redington Shores.
The council also chose Gary Becker and the current Interim Town Manager, William Whitson.
On July 10, the candidates will get a tour of the town and meet with department heads. The public will also have the opportunity to meet them at an event to be held at the Holiday Inn.
Residents will be able to communicate their thoughts to the council.
“I think it’s important that the residents have an input on this,” said Mayor Randy Anderson. “So, whatever we need to do to get them to communicate with us the night before.”
Interviews will be conducted on July 11, beginning at 9 a.m.
