ORANGE PARK - The council approved an emergency ordinance Tuesday to address the replacement and construction of a stormwater culvert section.
The emergency project will take place at Marcia and Chablis Court to Gabriel. The town said that the specific area has presented significant problems with stormwater over the past year.
Director of Public Works Kyle Croce said that during the last storm, the stormwater staged up past the road and into the properties' aprons at the intersection. Officials foresee it only getting worse.
Croce said about 80 feet of the area will need to be removed and replaced with new piping.
The council amended the 2024-25 fiscal year budget to address the need. A total of $53,376 was appropriated from the stormwater fund balance to the stormwater operating budget.
In other business Tuesday night, the council recognized Saint James A.M.E Church Day and its 147-year staple in the community. Additionally, Grace Episcopal Day School was recognized for its 75th anniversary.
Both received official proclamations.
