Ridgeview High athletic director Aimee Stutz created the first-ever girls and boys bowling teams from Clay County and, on Monday, Stutz got the first-ever state qualifier from Clay County. Stutz had Dannie Higginbotham as her boys coach. 

Sophomore Katie Waters, with the district tournament held Monday, earned her ticket to the state finals in Orlando next week at the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center on October 28-30. 

At the district meet, Waters had scores of 195, 159 and 159 for a 513 total. The winner was 652 total with games of 203, 173 and an astounding 276.

Stutz reported that the girls team finished third of 12 teams at district with a total of 2,076 pins and advanced to the team second round competition, but were eliminated to advance as a team.

For the girls team, Makayla DeLorenzo opened with a fantastic 213, but dropped to 153 and 114 in her second two rolls. Other team members high scores were Hannah Smith with a 143, Samantha Orrego with a 133 and Nichole Deschamps with a 116.

The boys team fell outside of the top four finishers to end their season. 

On the team for  Stutz girls include a handful of Ridgeview High softball aces including Nichole Deschamps, Saige Bialek and Hannah Smith, plus Katie Waters, Makayla DeLorenzo, Fatima Deschamps and Samantha Orrego.

For the boys, Avery Rhoden, Kaiden Hohler, Connor Murphy, Wesley Swearingen, Evan Kittrell and Brayden Agostini bowled for Stutz.
