FLEMING ISLAND — Children aged five and up got to experience the world of a chocolatier at Peterbrooke's summer camp on Thursday.
This year's theme was "Under the Sea." Chocolatier Frankie Steedley said the store has been doing the camp for several years now.
"We just like to provide a place for the kids to come and have an opportunity to do something fun," Steedley said.
For an hour and a half, the children got to experience the behind-the-scenes process of making chocolate-dipped confections.
Each child was given an individual tray filled with eateries such as caramel apples, popcorn, pretzels and Oreos. One by one, they were brought to the chocolate wheel, where they made the choice to dip the items in milk or dark chocolate.
Then, they could decorate their creations with sprinkles and other edible decoratives. They also had the opportunity to use seashell molds, incorporating the beach theme.
Afterwards they were able to wrap them up and take them home. However, it wasn't all chocolate and sweets — the camp also provided the children with a pizza lunch.
