FLEMING ISLAND - Pruitt Health's annual Committed to Caring Challenge was designed to improve the life of a designated resident. Ms. Dorothy Shaw is a 75-year-old woman who has called our facility home since 2019. Throughout the years she has brought joy to those around her despite the challenges that come with long-term care. When dolphins are mentioned in conversation or daily activities, she lights up. On Tuesday, Aug. 18, we made Dorothy's dream of meeting a dolphin in person come true. Thank you to Marineland in St. Augustine, as their team's compassion made all the difference. We were able to give her the experience of meeting these incredible creatures up close. We also made a day of it with a stop at Buc-ee's to show her the advancements of a gas station, including a mini shopping spree. Experiences like these have a profound impact on the emotional wellbeing of our residents. The smiles and laughter we shared made us more than winners.
