GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Quigley House, the only dual certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center in Clay County, Fl., observes Domestic Violence Awareness Month throughout October.

“Domestic Violence Awareness Month is an opportunity as a community to focus on doing our part to end domestic violence,” Chief Executive Officer Susan Atwell said. The center is using this opportunity to honor victims who have lost their lives to domestic violence as well as survivors who have gotten help, in addition to bringing together the local community of advocates and allies that fights to end domestic violence daily.

The only way to create a society that does not accept violence is to become educated on the issue and then start a conversation about what we know. Businesses, organizations and individuals alike are encouraged to wear a little purple this October to help start that conversation.

Quigley House provides the following services free to survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence: emergency shelter, 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, victim advocacy, Injunction for Protection legal assistance, court advocacy, case management, information and referrals, pet shelter (one of a few in the state), economic justice and child advocacy.

Throughout the month of October, Quigley House pledges to share facts about domestic violence on our social media accounts. Our hope is that you increase your understanding of this complex issue and utilize the information to become a part of the collective voice of individuals, families, activists, institutions, and systems who are working to prevent domestic violence.
