Raiders, Eagles among leaders of flag points

ORANGE PARK - With a second half of their season leaning toward a clash of offenses between the unbeaten Fleming Island High girls flag football team and the Orange Park Lady Raiders who are in the top three of points scored after the first half of their seasons.

Atlantic Coast High, with 210 total points in their 6-3 overall record, and Fletcher with 174 in a 5-2 record, lead the district 2-2A lineup that includes Fleming Island, Oakleaf and Orange Park.
Fleming Island, led by the tandem of quarterback Devyn Dudones, who has admirably climbed her learning curve of directing the high-energy offense around wideout London Jenkins, has put 115 points on the boards with a 6-0 record while Orange Park, with a solid ground game on the shoulders of Alanna Kennedy and Jada Blanton, has scored 124 points in their 3-2 record with a recent 32-26 overtime loss Oakleaf taking away a big first half scoring blitz.
Jenkins and friends put 46 points on the board against Ridgeview and 28 against unbeaten Paxon, but the Golden Eagles' offense of the past behind quarterback Mikayla Maddox has yet to put the big numbers on the board.
Oakleaf has stayed strong on defense behind safety Roslyn Weston and utility player Shelby Gaines with the Orange Park win the largest point total for the season after a 12-7 win over Keystone Heights the previous best.
Orange Park has four 28-plus scoring sprees on the season, but the opposition is going to get better in the second half of the season with Clay, Yulee and Middleburg on the roster.
Oakleaf coaches Devin Wilson and Bubba Horne have a slate of seven games to finish the season with Fleming Island, Middleburg and a fast Palatka (3-2) team coming to test the Knights.
In district 4-1A; with Ridgeview, Clay, Palatka, Menendez and St. Augustine in the lineup, Clay is unbeaten in just two regular season games with two shutouts and Orange Park and Middleburg next up as the first two of seven remaining games for the Blue Devils.
Middleburg first-year coaches James Black and Rodney Ivey are getting familiar with high school athletes after much success at the Lake Asbury Junior High level and the symbiotic relationship with his team has proven fruitful, at 4-1, with blowout wins of 30-6 and 45-0 and a tough 19-6 win over Baker County pre-Spring Break. The Broncos have Clay, Oakleaf and Orange Park coming up and that will be the true test.
Ridgeview, 1-4, needs to find offense despite not having Nia Blocton (ankle injury) out of commission.
While tough to compare offenses with Clay just with two games and 37 points scored, Tampa Robinson, multiple champions of Class 1A, has 327 points in their 8-0 record with Braden River scoring 300 in their 9-0. Middleburg has 107 points in their 4-1 record.
Keystone Heights is at 2-6 with four losses pre-Spring Break.
