Faith walk: Resurrection and life

Easter is a time of hope and renewal.

Christians everywhere celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at Easter. Think about that supernatural foundation for faith in Christ. It is the ultimate necessity for validating your faith as a Christian believer. In other words, if you do not believe Jesus literally rose from the dead, you do not have the faith required to be a Christian.

Paul the apostle wrote, “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.” (I Corinthians 15:14 KJV) It is not only true that Jesus rose from the dead; we must believe that He did!

This is not a “Christian” myth. It is not a “Christian” allegory. It is not a “Christian” feel good fable. Some – even some who purportedly preach and teach the Christian faith - would have you believe that the resurrection is symbolism. That is in direct contradiction to the message of faith and trust in Christ that the Apostle Paul taught. He said, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”

It is Christ’s resurrection that guarantees eternal life to the believer. If death had conquered Him, we would have no hope of eternal life. But because He rose from the dead and in doing so He conquered death forever, the Christian believer lives knowing that He has eternal life.

The resurrection of Jesus makes it possible for us to live without fear of dying! His resurrection assures us that we have eternal life and death is only a transition from earth to heaven.

“The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” (1 Corinthians 15:26 NIV)

“O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (by His resurrection).” (1 Corinthians 15:55, 57)

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the Life.” Because He lives, we shall also live forever!
