GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Spring Park hosted its final Food Truck Friday of the season on Nov. 3, but not without a star-studded party.
In addition to 20 trucks around the park, the main event was a celebration of Lynyrd Skynyrd writing and playing music for their first three albums 50 years ago at Hell House.
“Today was an awesome day,” said Curt Towne, whose band highlighted the festivities. “Skynyrd started in Green Cove Springs. That’s where Hell House was. Their first album came out 50 years ago. We wanted to pay respect and honor for our Skynyrd family that we love so much.
“It was one heck of a celebration.”
The Curt Towne Band was joined by former American Idol finalist Bo Bice, Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie, Derek Hess and Barry Lee Harwood of the Rossington Collins Band, Phil Swindel of the Atlanta Rhythm Section and Jimmy Sexton from the Artimus Pyle Band.
The Curt Towne Band often opens for Lynyrd Skynyrd, including two shows last month in St. Augustine.
The night coincided with the release of The Curt Towne Band’s new album, “At It Again.” The album has eight songs and is available at The Guitar Station in Green Cove Springs or on all streaming platforms.
