Clay High graduates 22 with health science certifications
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay High School’s Health Science Program reported a successful school year with certifications in a variety of health care areas to prepare students for immediate employment in the community as entry level healthcare workers.
Over a three-or-four-period, the program completers have received education in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Health Science Foundations, and specific hands-on training in the clinical setting at area health care facilities.
This school year, Clay High graduated 22 seniors with a health science certification. Many of the graduates earned two certifications. Additionally, five juniors earned a healthcare industry certification. The certifications included CET- EKG Technician, CNA- Certified Nursing Assistant, and CMAA- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant.
Clay High is the only school in the Clay County district to offer students three health science industry certifications.
The Clay High School Health Science Program is experiencing a significant growth in student enrollment and now has two full-time RNs on the faculty to prepare students for a career in health care. The program is looking forward to continued growth and being a part of meeting the community’s increasing health care needs.
Pair of Clay students earn Comcast Awards College scholarships
JACKSONVILE – Jacie Ankrom of Orange Park High and Zinia Basil of Ridgeview High each were two of five local students who will share in Comcast’s $15,250 college scholarship for the just-completed school year to five North Florida students as part of its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.
These students are among 90 from across Florida who are receiving a total of $236,000 in Leaders and Achievers scholarships this year.
Students are selected for their outstanding community service, academic performance and leadership skills. Since 2001, more than $33 million has been awarded to nearly 30,000 high school seniors across the country as part of the Leaders and Achievers program.
“Our Leaders and Achievers scholarship winners are exceptional students who are committed to academic excellence and community service,” said Bill Ferry, Senior Director of External Affairs and Community Impact for Comcast in North Florida. “We are honored to recognize their achievements and excited to support them as they continue their educational journeys.”
