ORANGE PARK – Car horns honked. Signs waved. People screamed. Flags waved. And while the primary focus was “No Kings Day,” there were many reasons several hundred people protested last Saturday at the corners of Kingsley Avenue and Blanding Boulevard from 10 a.m. until noon. Some were in favor of LGBTQ rights, while others supported President Donald Trump. A few people, including former FBI Director James Comey, posted "8647" on X, while one man made light of the occasion with a poster that read “Honk 4 Hot Moms.” While other locations in the nation reported problems, Sheriff Michelle Cook posted on Facebook, “Protesters have cleared the area. No arrests, no injuries and no issues...just 500+ people gathering and lawfully exercising their rights. I also want to say “THANK YOU” to our team who had to come in on a day off to work and keep things safe. Your efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Best Incident Management Team ever! We appreciate everyone’s cooperation today.”
