• Three household hazardous waste storage buildings open at the Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility.

10 years ago, 2015

• AMIkids, a program that provides alternative opportunities for troubled boys, announced it will expand to Clay County.

• Pasha and Yura—a pair of 15-year-old orphans from Ukraine—spend the summer with Andre and Juliet Van Heerden, and a nonprofit organization that rescues orphans from Ukraine and Latvia.

• Orange Park’s Todd Emerick is honored with the Carl S. Marvel Creative Polymer Chemistry Award.

20 years ago, 2005

• James Curry, 39 at the time, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of marijuana by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office following a brief foot chase.

• The rock band Orange Park, which got its name after graduating from Orange Park High, gets rave reviews following the release of its second album by The New York Times and the Village Voice.

• The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announces it will enforce an ordinance that prohibits swimming near county boat ramps.
