• Mary Jo and Don Mancosh of Green Cove Springs receive the Caring Heart Award for providing foster care to six children.
• The BCC agrees to spend $826,000 with F&G Construction General Contractors to build a new park on Moody Avenue.

• Vandals break into Clay High and damage areas of the cafeteria, gymnasium and computer lab.
• Former Clay High outfielder Garris Gonce leads South Carolina to a runner-up finish to Texas at the NCAA Baseball World Series.
• The SunTrust Bank on the corner of Kingsley Avenue and U.S. Highway 17 is demolished to make room for a new turn lane onto Kingsley.
