PONTE VEDRA — The fight to end hunger was as vibrant as ever on Sept. 26 as Waste Not Want Not, an organization dedicated to reducing food waste and strengthening communities, raised more than $80,000 towards its cause.
The local nonprofit hosted its second-annual Corks and Forks gala at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa. This year's theme was "The Cigars and Bourbon Edition," which brought together business leaders, philanthropists and community champions to raise the critical funds needed to rescue surplus food and provide close to two million meals every year for families in Northeast Florida.
"We nourish hope and we restore that hope to people who need it most," said Waste Not Want Not Executive Director Dr. Kathleen Spears.
Guests enjoyed cuisine, premium bourbon tastings, handcrafted cigar experiences, live entertainment by Blackwater and a silent auction. U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean also auctioneered a live auction to end the evening.
