CLAY COUNTY – The First Coast YMCA is dedicated to developing a new generation of changemakers. This starts with the very youngest in our community and continues throughout their lives and extends to each member of our community. The Y investment in youth development is part of our mission to build and maintain healthier, stronger communities.

In Clay County, the Y offers Before and After School childcare at all public elementary schools for children ages 5-12. Before School care starts at 6:30 a.m. (with the exception of Orange Park Elementary) and After School runs until 6 p.m. The program offers a safe space for kids to continue to learn and be engaged beyond the regular school day while also providing parents peace of mind in knowing their child is under care until the end of the workday.

Both children and parents can benefit from the Y’s Before and After School programming. An important part of the Y’s history of dedication to youth development, Before and After School Program was established to meet the needs of working parents while providing children with an enriching environment. The program pairs academic support with fun activities, character development, physical fitness and nutrition lessons.

In continued support of youth development, there are great opportunities for young adults to build the foundational strengths of a successful career and gain valuable experience right here at the YMCA.

In Clay County, the Y has open opportunities for youth to work as After School Youth Leaders, Before and After School Childcare Site Leaders, Lifeguards, and more. The after-school hours are convenient for high school teens or college students who can begin building their leadership skills and resume. It is also great for current or retired education professionals who want to continue making a difference outside of the classroom. Employment opportunities extend beyond the school year with availability to work as camp counselors during the summer.

Individuals who work with the Y’s Before and After School programs have the opportunity to make a difference in kids' lives by providing them a place to learn, grow, and thrive. The YMCA staff encourages students to pursue new skills and foster new friendships through a wide range of day-to-day activities. We hope to build character through sharing the Y’s values, keeping kids physically active, and supporting them academically.

Additionally, the YMCA supports its staff’s completion of DCF Child Care certifications and offers plenty of growth and leadership opportunities for individuals who seek to move up in the company. YMCA employees receive a free membership and free childcare through any of the Y’s after-school programs.

The First Coast YMCA seeks out team members who value and exhibit the attributes of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY to join the organization.

This back-to-school season, consider the possibilities and benefits of part-time employment with the YMCA. For more information about the First Coast YMCA’s teen programming and open positions, visit https://fcymca.org/about-us/employment/.
