GREEN COVE SPRINGS — "I've noticed work going on to the lot that St. Vincent had. Is it still going to be St. Vincent ER or is there something else being built there?"
According to the City of Green Cove Springs, Ascension St. Vincent's newest emergency facility that was set to be built at 1050 N. Orange Ave. is on hold. As for the work you see, the city's Development Services Department believes the lot is being used as a laydown yard for ongoing street improvements. It's nothing related to the hospital. Long-range plans for the two-story facility included an 18,000 square-foot emergency department and medical offices.
At the time of its announcement in 2020, only a concept plan had been submitted to the city's Planning and Zoning Department. No one has since come forward with any plans for the parcel.
