GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay County Sheriff deputy Cortney Alstatt underwent successful double-mastectomy surgery last week as she continued her fight against Stage 3 breast cancer.
Cortney went home a day after the surgery and was “healing and doing well, considering her circumstances,” the sheriff’s office reported.
The deputy now will start several rounds of radiation – or the next phase of her “adventure,” as she calls it – to make sure there aren’t any lingering problems.
So far, there have been more than 250,000 interactions on social media following her journey, CCSO said. Thousands have posted comments, including many of her former inmates where she worked in the jail.
Although the family hasn’t asked for support, a GoFundMe account was established to help offset her medical bills. That account can be found HERE!
