CLAY COUNTY — According to a recent county update during its July 14 meeting, the County Road 220 bridge replacement and four-lane widening project is progressing and remains on schedule for a mid-October opening date.

While the section from Joe Johns Road to Chief Ridaught Trail is scheduled to open within the next two weeks, work on the portion beginning at Knight Boxx Road continues.

Construction at Radar Road commenced on April 6 and will increase within the next few weeks. The project aims to connect Radar Road and Town Center Boulevard with a new two-lane road at the existing roundabout.

Utility construction and road grading continue at the eastern portion of the project. Access to the nearby church and the Station at Fleming Island apartment complex is currently not affected during this phase. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2027.

Motorists should expect an upcoming traffic pattern shift and they county urges drivers to be alert and pay attention to construction zone signs.

Don't forget the improvements along Blanding Boulevard at the Wells Road intersection. Overseen by the Florida Department of Transportation, this project aims to relieve congestion and enhance safety.

Construction began last August and the project is behind schedule with a completion date set for Nov. 16.  Current work includes erosion control, traffic maintenance, grading, paving, curb and gutter installation, lighting, striping and subgrade improvements.
