August (Augie) Anthony Chasey, (82) of Orange Park, FL passed away peacefully on September 26th, 2023. Augie was born on August 9th, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA to Angela (Palmieri) Chasey and August Chasey.

He graduated from Penn Hills High School in Penn Hills, PA in 1959 and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Florida in 1963. He then received his commission in the United States Navy and became a Naval Flight Officer, serving in the Vietnam Conflict and later retiring from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in 1984. He was a devout Christian and a lifelong student of scripture, and attended New Beginnings church in Orange Park, FL.

Augie was a compassionate, kind, and peaceful man who was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. A cheerful demeanor and youthful sense of humor were his hallmark traits that he will forever be remembered for.

Augie was a loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, and uncle and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded by his wife of fifty-seven years, Virginia (Ginny) Chasey, his mother, Angela (Palmieri) Chasey, and his father, August Chasey. He is survived by his children, Susan (William) May of Jacksonville, FL, Allen Chasey of Peachtree City, GA, Sally (Mark) Pierce of Senoia, GA; grandchildren Kate, Erin, and Lindsay Chasey, Sarah and Brian Pierce; his brother, John (Joanne) Chasey; nieces Jennifer (Jason) Hertzell and Janie (Mark) Scadina.

Augie will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full military honors. At 2pm that afternoon, a celebration in honor of his life will be held at New Beginnings church in Orange Park, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Augie’s honor to Seamark Ranch in Green Cove Springs, FL. The organization honors him well as he was a lifelong advocate of being in the service of others.
