ORANGE PARK - Rebecca Barfield's passion is helping people look and feel their best.
As a fashion expert, she knows the latest trends in what to wear and how to wear them. Most importantly, she said she knows how to make someone feel like they’re the only person in the room.
With her consignment shop, Be Bella Boutique, she aims to provide women all over the county with an experience.
“Every woman has that,” she said. “And, I want her to feel that when she walks in that room … like the music’s gonna stop, and everybody will look at her.”
Luxurious retail therapy has never been so easy with the help of Be Bella. Established earlier this year, the shop offers designer brands at the lowest prices and an old-fashioned shopping experience. Barfield said she likes to bring joy to everybody who walks through the doors.
From Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors to Ralph Lauren and Gucci, Barfield said she has everything that customers may want. With prices ranging from $10 to $1,000, if customers are looking to shop on a budget, Barfield said she also carries other vintage-based products.
In her "unique" boutique, Barfield said it’s also not always about the clothes but the experience. From laughing together in the dressing rooms to helping customers piece by piece, she said it’s an intimate experience.
Beginning her business was a chance encounter. Located inside Vintage 1 Furniture and Decor on Blanding Boulevard, Barfield said what started from her creative love of crafting custom wreaths eventually turned into something bigger than she could have imagined.
As a young girl, Barfield said although she didn’t grow up with a lot of money, she made the best with what she had. She couldn’t always sport brand-new clothes, but whenever she was, it always made her feel at her best.
“[If] I went to school the next day and I had new shoes, a new dress, and a new necklace, I felt good all day,” she said. “I walked on air all day. And, it was all that emotions and feelings because of one dress”
She calls that her secret to a consignment store. Although she said there were few opportunities for upscale thrifting in the county, she was determined to change that.
“I live in Orange Park and we didn’t have anything in Orange Park,” she said. “Not really. I had to go to Fleming Island whenever I wanted to visit an upscale consignment boutique. So, I was really excited about bringing that to the ladies of Clay County.”
Barfield prides herself on being one of the only stores in the county that she knows of that does 50/50 consignment. This means that if the product sells, the customer receives 50% of all profits.
“It works really well because ladies can earn extra money,” Barfield said. “You’ve got moms and grandmothers; some work, some don’t. But, they just want to make a little extra money. It’s a great way to do that.”
For the future, Barfield said she hopes to open another location to continue spreading her gems.
Her unique boutique is filled with products for all age groups and sizes, and Barfield said she wants to continue catering to everyone. Because being beautiful knows no boundaries.
“There’s all different types of ladies. There are ladies who like gothic, and there are ladies who like feminine, my biker chicks come in or my cowgirls that ride horses. So, I want a little bit of everything in the boutique. So, there’s something for every woman that walks in.”
