Faith can feel mysterious. We talk about trusting God, hearing His voice, walking by faith, not by sight. But how do you actually believe in someone you can’t physically see or touch?
That’s a real struggle for a lot of people. You’re not alone.
Hebrews 11:1 gives us a foundation: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Faith isn’t wishful thinking. It’s not ignoring reality or pretending your doubts don’t exist. Faith is choosing to trust in what God has revealed, even when your eyes can’t confirm it yet.
You already live this way in other areas of life. You trust that the sun will rise tomorrow, even though you haven’t seen it yet. You rely on air, though you’ve never held it in your hands. You believe in love, though it’s more than a feeling or a fact.
Faith is built through experience, Scripture, prayer and small steps of obedience that begin to show you: He’s real. He’s present. He’s faithful. Over time, what once felt uncertain starts to feel unshakable, not because you figured it all out, but because you’ve learned to walk with Him.
And yes, there will be moments when you wonder, when you wrestle. God isn’t intimidated by that. He welcomes the questions. He draws near to those who seek Him. Believing doesn’t require the absence of doubt; it requires the presence of trust.
So, how do you believe in what you can’t see? You start with what you do know. You anchor your heart in His Word. You look back at what He’s already done. And then you keep showing up, one day, one prayer, one step at a time.
He’s more real than you know, and He’s closer than you think.
