DAYTONA BEACH - It will be a pasta of a time at the Orange Park Fall Festival, with Bleu Basil making its return this year.
Crafting artisan-style pasta with a twist, Scott Martin and Chef Mike know exactly what it means to provide the best for their customers. And that includes bringing a taste of Italy right to their doorstep.
Using semolina flour, traditionally used in Europe, Bleu Basil handmakes their pasta and offers more than 17 different styles and 25 various flavors, including jalapeño lime, Italian herb and roasted garlic.
"It is healthier in the sense that there is no preservatives of any kind," Martin said.
The Daytona Beach-based business will be tabling near the Main Stage for its fifth consecutive year, welcoming back a vast fanbase it's built over the years. They said coming to the small town never gets old.
Chef Mike began Bleu Basil with a passion and a love of food from a young age. After studying at the Culinary Institute of America, he opened the business in 2017. He initially sold bread, jams and jellies, but then transformed into all things pasta.
Traveling around the country, they serve customers far and wide.
"Truthfully, [what] was just to be one farmer's market once a week in the local area sort of just took on a life of its own."
As one of 200 vendors at the two-day event, Martin said they want Bleu Basil to continue to stand out. Attendees can expect high-end quality pasta at a reasonable price. The two said they also want to create an experience that allows customers to pick up the pasta, visualize, and smell the difference in quality.
This year, they are introducing all of their bronze cuts. Sourcing Italian bronze cut from Europe, the pasta is made as authentically as possible. The bronze cut is capable of crafting gnocchi shells, ziti and fusilli, which will be available for purchase at the festival.
Planning for next year, the two said they will be bringing a food trailer, where they will cook fresh plates on-site for customers.
"We want to be different. We want to be separated from the crowd."
Be sure to check out Bleu Basil at the Orange Park Fall Festival on Oct. 18-19. For a full list of vendors and booths, stop by the Information Booth near the Main Stage or visit opfallfestival.com.
