LYNN HAVEN - Middleburg High's girls wrestling team rocked Flagler Palm Coast to the tune of a 110.0-93.5 region G-1A wrestling title with Oakleaf sixth.

Fleming Island and Ridgeview also had wrestlers competing.

In yet another clash of titans, at 135 pounds, No. 1 ranked Oakleaf High's Kailani Barrientos faced off and beat No. 2 ranked Middleburg's Sarah Walsh with a third period pin in what started as a probable district and region final that came true and, once again, could become the state final at the weight. Both Barrientos and Walsh pinned their way to the region final with Barrientos (18-1) executing pins in 10, nine and 2:46 to her final and Walsh (30-7) also pinning three en route to the final.

For the Broncos team title, fourth ranked freshman Fallon Dames (40-6) remained steadfast in her approach to a first of possibly four state titles with a 10-1 in her 115 final. Bronco senior Memphis Moses, 11th ranked, got her ticket with a third-place finish at 110 with a semifinal loss to Flagler Palm Coast star Juliana Mills, 10th ranked.

At 125, Fleming Island's Leilah Carter, 17th ranked, lost her semifinal off a third period pin, but regrouped to finish third with a 16-13 win over 13th ranked Matanzas' R'Cardenay Michel, a 34-6 favorite in the weight class.

At 145, Oakleaf High's Zoe Goode (23-10, 10th ranked), beat the weight class second seed, Alisha Vilar of Flagler (24-4) with an 8-5 win, then lost to St. Augustine's Taylor Pelchat (35-2, fifth ranked) on a 19-second pin to get her a silver medal.

At 235, Middleburg's Kailey Baker, 23rd ranked, finished fourth despite an injury default in her final match.

One surprising nonstate ticket was seventh ranked Middleburg senior Lily Bradshaw at 100 who lost to region runner-up Addison Neufeld, 16th ranked, in her semifinal, battled back with two wins in the consolation rounds, but lost in the consolation semifinal to Pace High's Jayda Berry, 20th ranked, via pin.
