ORANGE PARK – With the help of a confidential informant, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office set up several controlled purchases of drugs, which led to the arrest and the confiscation of firearms by a convicted felon on Jan. 10.
David Vega, 37, of Orange Park, was charged with six counts of use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, selling a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a place of worship/convenience store, five counts of selling a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell/manufacture/deliver/control, possession drug paraphernalia and three counts possession ammo/firearm by a convicted felon.
According to a heavily redacted affidavit for an arrest warrant, CCSO set up a controlled buy on Nov. 25, where the informant purchased cocaine. The Fugitive Apprehensive Unit then apprehended Vega at his job utilizing Cops Without Borders in Jacksonville on Jan. 9 while CCSO searched his home on Old Jennings Road.
Vega posted a $26,500 bond in Putnam County after he was arrested on Oct. 18, 2023, for trafficking cocaine and attempting to flee and elude law enforcement. His bond was revoked in Putnam on Jan. 10.
His bond was set at $825,044 in Clay County.
