ORANGE PARK – A man and boy were arrested on May 16, hours after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said they shot a man while trying to rob him at the Jefferson Avenue Apartments.
Jeff Preston Lloyd, 19, of Orange Park, and Tyler Ray Spears, 16, were charged with attempted murder after residents helped detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Unit identify the two and determine the victim was shot while trying to run away.
According to the affidavit for an arrest warrant, CCSO conducted a search warrant at Lloyd’s residence and they found clothing that matched a description given by witnesses, facemasks and a handgun.
CCSO said Lloyd and another man returned to the scene and attempted to render aid to the victim, but neither of them called 911.
Floyd was denied bond, but his next court appearance will be on June 11. Because he’s a minor, information about Spears was withheld.
