MIDDLEBURG – A Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a call from a caller who feared a man may be dead inside a car, and he wound up arresting the driver for drugs and possessing a handgun while being a convicted felon.
Jacob Lindsey Canon, 38, of Green Cove Springs, was sleeping in his SUV on Hibiscus Avenue on March 8 when a CCSO deputy woke him up. The deputy noticed a glass pipe in the ashtray. Canon was arrested, and when his SUV was searched, deputies recovered a handgun under the driver’s seat, 2.17 grams of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with illegally concealing the firearm as a felon.
Canon’s bond was set at $23,010.
