ORANGE PARK – Security and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said a North Carolina woman passed counterfeit $100 bills at the Orange Park Mall.
Al’Asia Devine Gregory, 21, of Charlotte, was charged with uttering counterfeit money and illegally obtaining property after an employee of one store told a security officer the woman bought two items at one store totaling $21.50. She paid with a fake $100 bill and pocketed the 78.50 change, according to CCSO.
She also bought $34.29 worth of items at another store, also paying with a counterfeit bill. Once detained, deputies found three more counterfeit bills with the same serial number.
According to the arrest report, the purchases were captured by surveillance video.
Gregory was released from the Clay County Jail after posting a $50,006 bond. Her next court appearance is Dec. 18
