FLEMING ISLAND – Fleming Island Rotary Club awarded Challenge Enterprises of North Florida its Local Heroes Award. The prestigious award was given to Challenge for its outstanding contribution to the community.

“We are incredibly grateful to Starr Keating and the Fleming Island Rotary Club for this wonderful recognition,” said Katie Vineyard, Challenge Enterprises COO. “The Local Heroes Award holds a special place in our hearts, and we are proud to showcase it in the center of our ‘Love Us Cabinet’ for everyone to see.”

As a continuation of their contribution to the community, the organization is launching a campaign called “Burn the Mortgage” and invites the community to join them. The campaign will raise enough to pay off the mortgage of their Ladies’ Small Group Home. In addition, the campaign will allow Challenge Enterprises to use its resources toward its other programs and needs.

“The rising cost of groceries poses a challenge for our organization, especially with a house full of ladies,” said Challenge CEO Nancy Keating. “By eliminating the mortgage, we can ensure that our monthly budget for the house prioritizes nutritious meals and snacks, supporting the ladies in their journey to learn how to cook healthy meals and desserts.”

Challenge Enterprises thanked the Fleming Island Rotary Club for their continuous support and encouragement as they continue to promote the power of people and possibilities for individuals living with disabilities. Through their efforts, this non-profit organization has been impacting lives for 50 years.

They provide a variety of programs and services to help people to be successful and independent in life. They also offer different levels of adult training and residential services such as group homes, employment and career opportunities to individuals living with disabilities.

They provide recreational activities such as bowling, cycling, and karaoke for individuals to enjoy during their free time. To learn more about Challenge Enterprises or to donate, visit www.challengeenterprises.org.
