WASHINGTON, D.C. - Clay County Supervisor of Elections Chris Chambless was one of the thousands who passed through the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Jan. 8 to pay his respects to President Jimmy Carter, who died on Dec. 29. Chambless captured this image of the 39th president as he lied in state for three days. Carter returned to Plains, Georgia, on Thursday, Jan. 9, to be buried at their home next to Rosalynn, his wife of 77 years.
