CLAY COUNTY – The Clay County Libraries 2022 Summer Reading Program will run through July 16. This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities and reading materials have been curated along the ocean theme for children ages as old as 11, youths ages 12-18 and adults 19 and older.

Participants can sign up at any of the five Clay County libraries on Fleming Island, Green Cove Springs, Keystone Heights, Middleburg-Clay Hill and Orange Park. Each reader will receive a reading log and a swag bag with each registration. Participants can track their reading and turn in the completed log to any branch for a chance to win a prize bundle at the end of the summer.

For a complete listing of all programs and registration information, please see our Events Calendar.

Children’s Programming will include Storytime, activity labs, craft programs, special guests, and events including Wild Wonders, Science Rocks, Shipwreck Discoveries, and Underwater Archeology, among others.

The Teen Calendar includes the Teen Underground for young adults ages 12-18 with anime, games, and arts and crafts. All libraries will also host video game tournaments featuring the classic Nintendo® game Super Smash Bros.™, and the Fleming Island Library will be holding an End of Summer After Hours party on July 16.

Adult Programming includes book clubs, arts and crafts, one-on-one tech help, yoga, and special presentations.

Clay County Board Chairman Wayne Bola said, “The Clay County Libraries Summer Reading Program offers a variety of age-appropriate programs and activities that encourage young people to continue learning when they are on summer break.” Bolla added, “Libraries are a great place for youths to engage in fun, educational activities with their friends in a positive environment, and develop a love of reading that will help them become successful adults.”

All Clay County libraries are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Library hours and locations are available at www.claycountygov.com/community/library/library-locations-and-hours.
