FLEMING ISLAND — Twin siblings John and Fiona Perry of Eagle Harbor recently completed a week of leadership training at Florida Boys State and Florida Girls State in Tallahassee.
The week-long programs, sponsored by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary, provide outstanding high school students with hands-on experience in government and civic leadership. Participants learn how bills are written, debated, lobbied for and passed into law while gaining a deeper understanding of the legislative process and state government.
John and Fiona were selected to attend based on their academic achievement, civic involvement and essays demonstrating patriotism.
The twins will begin their senior year at Bishop Snyder High this fall. Following graduation in 2027, both hope to earn appointments to a U.S. military service academy and pursue careers in military service.
