“echoes of absence”

Posted

I was inspired because it has been a full year since I last saw him, and during this time, I've deeply felt his absence, longing for my dad and the eventual chance to be reunited.

In the stillness of each passing night,

A void persists, an absence in sight,

Nearly a year, apart we've been,

My heartache, a silent, constant din.

Your laughter's echo, a distant hum,

I yearn for the times when we were one,

Memories now wrapped in teardrops' mist,

Your presence, sorely, greatly missed.

Your wisdom's whispers, a guiding light,

Moments shared, now a bittersweet plight,

Each day without your comforting hand,

Leaves a void I can't understand.

The scent of home, your favorite chair,

Echoes of love that still linger there,

In the spaces where you used to be,

Longing for your company.

Time marches forward, yet stands still,

Yearning for your embrace, I will,

Distance, a relentless, vast space,

Yearning to see your familiar face.

For now, I'll cherish memories true,

Holding you close in thoughts anew,

Until that moment we're side by side,

My missing piece, my dad, my pride.
